Parkys Furniture and Wood Care

Remove Water Spots from Polished Wood
Water makes a filmy gray spot. If not too deep, rubbing with the fingertip will remove the spot. Otherwise, use a small piece of cheesecloth tightly wrung out of hot water with 2 or 3 drops of household ammonia in it. Rub lightly and quickly with the cloth; then instantly rub with a soft oiled cloth. Finally go over the whole surfact with oil. Rub until all extra oil is used. Keep coasters under glasses and guard wood floors from dripping umbrellas! Other ways to repair:  Try wiping with mayonnaise; Make a paste of wood ash and salad oil; Ashes from cigarettes and saliva, and rub; hunk of raw potato with wood ash rubbed on it.  Rub over the area.
Hope some of the above tips help!
Wood Care
The beauty of furniture care is that it helps to protect your investment. Fine furniture is an important purchase. Proper care will help maintain your furniture's finish and ensure that it looks great year after year.

Caring for furniture
Caring for furniture is easy. Following a few simple guidelines will help extend the life of your furniture.

    * Always dust with a polish moistened cloth. Polish cushions the cloth eliminating scratching that occurs with dry dusting. Dust will scratch the furniture surface if not removed properly.
    * Use a soft, clean cloth that won't scratch the surface. Avoid course or scratchy materials or fabrics.

Enemies of Furniture
Many common problems in furniture care are caused by the elements. If you are aware of these troublemakers, the resulting damage can easily be avoided.

    * Sunlight's ultraviolet rays can damage wood finishes. Arrange furniture out of direct sunlight; use sun screening drapes during intense sunlight hours; rotate furniture in place and in room arrangements.
    * Liquid spills will damage furniture if not removed promptly. Use coasters under beverages, glasses, saucers under cups and flowerpots. If a spill still occurs, immediately blot it gently without rubbing the surface.
    * Heat creates a chemical change in the furniture finish, which can result in a white spot. Use protective pads under hot dishes, utensils or cooking appliances.
    * Cyclic changes in temperature can damage furniture. Hot blasts of air such as those found from central heating should be avoided because they can cause extreme localized drying of the wood.

Fabric Care
Upholstered furniture adds function and beauty to every room of your home. The choices are many with a wide variety of fiber, fabrics, colors and styles readily available. The following information will help you care for your upholstered furniture.

General Care Tips
Rearrange furniture occasionally to ensure even use of the cushions and wear areas.
Reverse loose cushions weekly.
Vacuum often to remove grit that can cause abrasion.
Caution those wearing clothing with transferable dyes, such as blue jeans, etc. that the dye could transfer onto light colored furniture.
Protect fabric from the sun. Ultraviolet light (sunlight) will cause fiber degeneration and color-fade. Fabrics should not be placed in direct sunlight, as this may cause fading.
Occasionally, dyes can fade from impurities within the air.
Keep pets off the furniture. Pet urine and pet body oil can be difficult to remove. Pet abuse voids manufacturers warranty.
Use proper care with structural weave fabrics (design created by the weave) to protect against snags.

 Mattress Care

Your new mattress will help create a restful sleep environment, improper installation can damage your new sleep set. Make certain your King or Queen size bedding is supported with a rigid center bed support system.

General Mattress Care Tips
Turn, and rotate a new mattress every few weeks to help smooth out contours. After a few months, turn and rotate your mattress twice a year to help equalize wear and tear that normally occurs. Be sure to rotate your foundation as well.
Avoid using the handles to support the full weight of the mattress. Typically, Handles are designed to help position the mattress over the foundation. If used improperly, handles may pull out and damage the fabric.
Vacuum your mattress and foundation for general maintenance. Use a mattress pad to help keep the sleep set free from stains. Soiled bedding voids manufacturers warranty.

Parkys Mexican pine furniture care and maintenance tips

Mexican pine furniture care and maintenance tips To enjoy your new furniture for many years to come please follow our advice on how to

look after it.

Do's and Don'ts

Do not place this product next to a radiator or in direct sunlight. Wood is a natural product and will expand if subjected to damp and will shrink and may crack if subjected to heat. This product is made of pine, which is a timber that is common for furniture, but susceptible to temperature changes. With pine furniture it is recommended that an even room temperature be maintained with no sudden temperature fluctuations, up or down.

Do not place HOT or CHILLED items directly on to the surface, use a place mat. Or marking will occur.

For general cleaning use a duster or damp cloth (ALMOST DRY) not wet.

Do not use soap and water or detergents of any kind on this product for cleaning. To maintain the characteristic finish on this furniture, do not use aerosol sprays or any polish containing Silicon. If unsure, try on an area that's not seen and look for reactions. There is a natural stain and finish on this furniture and it will react to most manmade products.

It will from time to time require the surface re-treating again to maintain its character. You can easily do this yourself using block wax we use brown shoe polish ,but test first(unperfumed), rubbing it over the whole item, following the manufacturers instruction. After treating your furniture, you may notice it is slightly more waxier than previously. This is normal because wood is a natural product that breathers and absorbs depending on room temperature.

The use of any cleaning materials other materials other than those recommended could damage the surface and will invalidate any claim.

From time to time it may be necessary to tighten fittings. This is normal and regular inspections should be carried out.

Do not place furniture onto a wet or damp floor as staining may occur to your floor.

            PARKYS CARE TIPS FOR YOUR MATTRESS AND BED;

    * Never fold or bend the mattress, as this will distort the spring unit.
    * Modern spring interior mattresses cannot be rolled for storage.
    * Sitting on the edge of your mattress for long periods can affect its shape.
    * Lively children may use your new bed as a trampoline. This is not recommended if you want to prolong the lifespan of your bed.
    * Use mattress handles, if provided, and do not overload divan bed drawers.
    * Check that the legs and castors are tightened fully from time to time.

REGULAR, EASY CARE MAINTENANCE

    * Turn down the bed clothes every morning to allow the bed to cool down and breathe.
    * Turn your mattress over twice a month for the first six months, and once a month thereafter. This will help to equalise wear and plump up the fillings.
    * Please note that some mattresses i.e. latex may not require turning.
    * Take care when turning mattresses; do it with someone else especially when they are particularly heavy. Frequent turning and plumping reduces natural dips and 'nesting' in spring interior mattresses.
    * The drawers within a drawer divan are usually designed to hold lightweight items, such as bedlinen, and should not be overloaded.
    * Where fitted, headboard bolts and legs may need to be tightened at regular intervals in order to prevent causing damage.

STOP SPILLS BECOMING STAINS

    * Ensure that a spillage is simply mopped up quickly with a clean, dry cloth.
    * Always use a good quality mattress protector that can be cleaned.

CLEANING

    * Never wet clean your mattress.
    * Regularly clean your bed with a soft brush or lightly vacuum using an upholstery attachment.
    * If your mattress does become wetted, stand it on its side to minimise the penetration of moisture and allow it to air away from direct heat.
    * Always follow your manufacturer's cleaning and care label instructions.

Parkys Rug Care and Cleaning Tips
Please note that these instructions are guidelines only. We always recommend that you consult the cleaning and rug care instructions that come with your rug, or are found on many manufacturers’ websites. Always test a small portion of the rug before applying a cleaning method to the entire rug.
General Maintenance tips

    * Vacuum often - frequency depends on amount of traffic rug receives. When vacuuming, perform several passes from various angles to ensure a thorough cleaning. Ideally, empty the bad when half full.
    * Perform an annual detailed cleaning (or hire someone to do it!)

General tips for removing spills and stains

    * Clean spill immediately!
    * If spill is liquid, blot up as much as possible with dry, non-dyed towel.
    * If spill is solid, gently scrape of material with dull silverware or spatula.
    * To minimize potentially damaging excess liquid, use as little soap and water as possible.

Cleaning Spills
As a general rule, follow any cleaning instructions provided by the rug's manufacturer.
Wool Rugs

   1. With a dry cotton towel or white paper towel, blot out stain as much as possible
   2. Scrape off any food or debris with a dull knife.
   3. Mix a very small amount of dish soap ( Palmolive, etc.) with a cup of cold water.
   4. With clean sponge and soap mix, gently remove remainder of stain.
   5. Blot area with dry towel.
   6. Avoid excessive heat or agitation. For all-over cleaning, we recommend using a professional. Wool rugs are more prone to bleed and stain than their synthetic counterparts, thus requiring extra prompt and careful cleaning.

Olefin/Polypropylene/Nylon Rugs Synthetic - color fast, won't run or bleed. Easiest to clean.

   1. First, blot out stain as much as possible with dry cotton towel or white paper towel.
   2. Scrape off any food or debris with dull knife.
   3. Mix a very small amount of dish soap ( Palmolive, etc.) with a cup of cold water.
   4. With clean sponge and soap mix, remove remainder of stain. Avoid using excessive water.
   5. Blot area with dry towel.
   6. For all-over cleaning: Send it to a professional cleaner.

Shag Rugs For everyday cleaning, give rug a good shake to remove loose dirt and fluff the pile. We recommend you go over your carpet every day with an upright vacuum that has a beater-bar action (no teeth or combs). For deeper cleaning, professional cleaning is recommended. Small rakes can also be used to fluff the pile, if necessary.
Silk Rugs Due to the delicate nature of the fabric, rug should be dry cleaned.
Cotton/Rayon

    * May be cleaned using all methods.
    * To prevent shrinking and possible browning, avoid excessive drying and agitation.
